The word 'Sphinx', which means 'Stranger', was first given by the Greeks to a fabulous creature which had the head of a woman, the body of a lion and the wings of a bird. In Egypt, there are numerous sphinxes, usually with the head of a king wearing his headdress and the body of a lion. There are, however, sphinxes with ram heads that are associated with the god Amun.

This Egyptian Exhibition is a revival of the cultural patrimony of the Mediterranean countries undertaken by the Ancient Civilizations Institute and the Reform Revivals of Modern Period as the preset agreement between Egypt and France.  Here you will see Tutankhamun the boy-king ascended to the throne. With his accession, the Amarna interlude was brought to an end, and the country gradually regained its traditional beliefs The young king was to rule Egypt for nine years, although the real power was in the firm hands of others. Beyond his famous treasures, and his god-like golden mask, Tutankhamun appears as a shadowy figure in Egyptian history. The pharaoh is indeed gone, but the mightiness of his treasures still fascinates us to this very day.
