We leave Copenhagen and head north and for almost a whole hour we follow the coast line of Sweden.  We drive through the magnificent Danish countryside to Elsinore and Kronborg Castle.

It is quite easy to understand why William Shakespeare chose Elsinore Castle as the setting for his famous play ' Hamlet'.  Enjoy the beautiful surroundings and feel the atmosphere as you walk through the Chapel and the Knights' Hall (the longest room in Northern Europe) and the dark casemates.

The tour continues to Fredensborg. The Queen's summer residence of Fredensborg  Palace is attractively located in the middle of a lovely park, bordering the idyllic Esrom lake.  We recommend you dine at the idyllic lunch restaurant "Skipperhuset".

The next highlight on this tour is Frederiksborg Castle, built by King Christian IV.  This pearl of history, built in the magnificent Renaissance style, is now a national historical museum.  It contains paintings, tapestries, porcelain, silver and furniture of great historical value.

As we head back to Copenhagen we drive through the colorful canals district and past the national Museum, by Christiansborg Palace, home to the Danish Parliament.  We then continue on to the old Stock Exchange and across Kongens Nytorv, where we can see the Royal Theater, world famous for it's Royal Ballet. Finally we pass the winter residence of the Royal Family followed by a visit to the Gefion Fountain and the Little Mermaid inspired by C. Andersen's fairytale.

We return to the Copenhagen docks for 04.00PM (1600)
