The tour takes you right to the most famous sights in the Swedish capital. We explore the bohemian southern island, "Södermalm", and cross the longest of the city’s 59 bridges. Our journey proceeds to the north of the capital, "Kungsholmen", where we drive by the City Hall and learn about the Nobel banquet, hosted here the 10th of December every year. Next, the heart of the city and the pedestrian precinct give an idea of what shopping in Stockholm is like before we continue to the fine housing area of Strandvägen where the roof tops are embellished with towers and pinnacles. Some apartments consist of up to 30 rooms. Just a moment later we visit the green lung of Stockholm, the old royal hunting grounds and see why this island, Djurgården, is the most visited recreational area in Scandinavia. There is an abundance of greenery mixed with spectacular sights such as the Nordic Museum with its eye-catching architecture, the modern Vasa museum and the open-air museum Skansen with 160 well-preserved old huts, farms and exquisite manor houses.
Before going back we see the Opera House, the Parliament Buildings and the highlights of the Old Town. The Royal Palace with its 608 rooms dominates the area and is still the official residence of his majesty Carl XVI Gustaf and family.
Photo stops and scenic drives are included in the tour. |
