In 1698 the city became the capital

of Walachia under Constantine Brancovan; after the union (1859) of Walachia and Moldavia it was made (1861) the capital of Romania.

The Palace of the Parliament , perhaps better known as the People´s Palace is the second largest building in the world and the symbol of the Ceausescu era. Completed in 1989 and constructed of the best materials and craftsmanship that Romania could provide. In

fact, the export of marble, crystal and wood (all of it hand carved and cut)was forbidden

since everything that could be produced was needed for the monument. You’ll see plenty of grand staircases, marble plated halls and conference rooms as well as enjoying a fine

view of central Bucharest from the balcony The Village Museum (Muzeul Satului in

Romanian) is an open-air ethnographic museum located in the Herăstrău Park

(Bucharest, Romania), showcasing traditional Romanian village life. The museum extends to over 100,000 m2, and contains 272 authentic peasant farms and

houses from all over Romania. It was created in 1936 by Dimitrie Gusti,

Victor Ion Popa, and Henri H. Stahl.

Hotel– Calea Victoriei – Romanian Athenaeum – The National Art Museum – The National Military Circle - Romanian Opera – Cotroceni Palace – The Parliament Palace ( visit ~ 1 hour ) – The Patriarchal Church – University Square – Triumph Arch – The Village Museum – Free Press House –Kisseleff Boulevard – Victoria Square – Romana Square – Hotel.

The Tour both by bus and on foot will encompass some or all these sites and endeavour to give you a small taste of Bucharest, one named the “Little Paris of East” with its beautiful architecture, wide

boulevards and parks.
