Your English speaking driver guide will meet you at your cruise ship at 09:00am.

Your tour begins with a scenic drive along the Black Sea coast to the oldest and largest archaeological site in Romania.  Histria, named after the Greek name for the Danube River, was founded in 656 B.C.  Colonizers from the Ionian Greek city of Miletus set up a trading outpost here, as it was serviced by the abundant fisheries and the very fertile hinterland renowned for its grain production.  The city was active until the late 6th century A.D..  The remains of this city date back to the Hellenistic period and extend through to the late Roman and early Byzantine times.  Parts of major public buildings, baths, basilicas, three churches and shops can be seen.

We continue to the archaeological museum which was founded in 1982.  Here, you will see displays of amphorae, inscriptions pottery, glassware, ornaments and hellinistic basreliefs from the site.  On the way back to Constanta, we visit the Folk Museum which displays the life of the local peasants.
