Starting at the Pont Neuf (the oldest bridge in Paris), and walking along place Dauphine (built in 1600), we will discover the first Royal Palace in Paris: the Conciergerie, where Marie-Antoinette spent the last 2 and a half months of her life. We will then continue on to the magnificent “Sainte Chapelle” with its unique 13th C. stain glass windows and to the cathedral Notre-Dame: a masterpiece of Gothic Art (with inside guided visit). After a short break, we will cross the Pont Rouge to discover Ile St Louis, its picturesque shops and art galleries and impressive 17th C. mansions which used to be homes of many famous people such as Wagner, Liszt, Chopin, Baudelaire, Marie Curie, Elena Rubinstein...We will finish our stroll on Rue St Louis en l’Ile with a tasting of “the best ice cream in Paris”: Berthillon! |
